Finnsheep Shepherd’s Choice Washed Locks are a very special preparation in spinning fibres. To obtain this wonderful product the sheep are bathed in a cosmetic grade shampoo and lightly conditioned. They are then groomed and blow dried to remove almost all unwanted matter. 
 
The neck, shoulder and chest are carefully shorn with hand shears. This labour intensive method results in washed wool that maintains the original lock structure and crimp. The tips are somewhat flicked open so it drafts very easily on the spinning wheel. 
 
This special wool is from the areas that often produce the finest micron count wool on the individual sheep – hence the Shepherd’s Choice.
